Meet Dan Wolczuk
Dan is very excited to be joining your class! In preparation for his visit we’d like you to watch the following video introducing him and why he loves math!
Here are some materials you can use with the class before and after your visit.
Dan offers a few different topics so click the box for the one your class is scheduled for.
Binary and Other Counting Systems
For this presentation you may wish to review place value and how we count in base 10. You can use this worksheet to practice.
During the presentation you may wish to have copies of this worksheet available for your students.
Bias in Data and Surveys
For this presentation students should be familiar with data collection and different types of graphs to represent data.
Visualizing 4D Space
For this presentation students should be aware of how shapes are represented in 2D and 3D space and some of the basic properties of those shapes. For example 2D space has length and width, while 3D space has length, width, and depth (or breadth).
Most other concepts for this talk will be introduced by Dan.
For this presentation students should be familiar with how to approach word problems and how to visualize answers to math problems.
