Math Proficency Test (MPT) Preparation Course

Are you an educator writing the Math Proficiency Test (MPT) and need help with your math skills?

This course is designed to help educators required to take the Ontario Mathematics Proficiency Test to build their math skills and knowledge.

The course covers topics including:

    • operations with decimals, fractions, and integers
    • measurement and geometry
    • algebra and linear relations
    • probability and stats

The content is based around the practice tests made available by the EQAO but it is not just based on learning ‘tips and tricks’ on how to answer the questions. Instead it focuses on building knowledge and understanding of the math concepts that you can take into your classroom.

We offer 3 versions of the course (all are fully online):

    • a multi-day (typically 3 or 4 days) intensive course with live, synchronous instructor lead lessons, worked examples, small group discussions, and independent practice
    • a hybrid class with asynchronous video lessons, independent practice questions, and live lessons with instructor lead practice questions
    • a fully online, asynchronous course with video lessons, practice questions, and a discussion board to interact with the instructor

The costs for these courses varies and some limited bursaries are available.

Any questions can be directed to Dr. Pamela Brittain (OCT, PhD, MMT, BSc, BEd), who will be instructing the course, at pbrittai@fieldsinstitute.ca
